While a lot of younger people are certainly using Facebook less and less, there are still strong demographics of people with huge purchasing power who use the social network to interact with companies and spend a lot of money.

When people are looking to buy from or engage with a Facebook page or business, one of the first things people do is check the page likes. It’s the social proof that lets them know how reputable and relevant your company or page is today. The question is how to get those initial page likes- and to get them cheap- since too few page likes will leave people thinking you're not a legitimate business.

Below I will outline the strategy used to get your first 10,000 page likes and how to do it for around $230 in Facebook ads. Aside from the social proof aspects, many claim that overcoming the 10K likes benchmark lowers your overall Facebook ad cost, so let's jump into the how…

Step 1: Create an Engagement Campaign

Make sure to select the “Pages Likes” button at the bottom of the page.

Step 2: Target a Worldwide Audience (Exclude Big English Speaking Countries)

For this specific tactic you are not going to get specific targeted followers. If you would like targeted “USA followers who are interested in *Insert Product* get ready to pay $2 a like. For this strategy, we are building up 10K followers for social proof and to lower future ad costs, so we are aiming for cheap likes- $0.03 pages likes to be exact.

To do this, we target the worldwide audience, and on top of that we exclude all major English speaking countries. That means exclude:

- USA

- Canada

- UK

- New Zealand

- Australia

Step 3: Create Your Ad Photo

For this strategy to work, you will need to create a very specific photo for your ad. Create a five-word quote (that anyone would agree with) on a yellow background. This is important!! Some people try to get artsy and add a photo background and change the text…. Don’t. It wont work.

A lot of testing shows that, for whatever reason, a yellow background and a five-word quote is necessary. You can Google “Best 5 Word Quotes” and make your own, or you can just use the one below that I always use. Your results will be the same either way.

Step 4: Specific Ad Title

For the ad title you need to say:

Click “Like” to like this page if you agree!.

That specifically is important if you just say “like if you agree”, Facebook won’t pass your ad because they will say you are tricking people into liking your page. So, the wording is important. Just copy the format.

So there you have it- the 4 steps to getting 10,000 real Facebook followers for $230. In the first day after publishing the ad, your cost-per-like may say $0.14 or something higher. Don’t worry about it. After you let the ad run for two days,Facebook’s learning algorithm will stabilize and it will go down to $0.03 per page like.

BONUS TIP!

For all you people that majored in math that are going to comment “Hey moron $0.03 X 10,000 = $300 not $230”: You are very right and no I did not click bait you. If you want to get your costs down to $230 USD you will need to employ a special hack.

Sign up to have Facebook charge you in Canadian dollars (other currencies may also work). Facebook recently upped their typical ad floor to a minimum of $0.03 per page like but it seems they didn’t take into account the exchange rate, so it is also $0.03 CAD per page like. At the time of this writing, $300 CAD is worth $228 USD. So voila! No clickbait. Enjoy your first 10k Followers!
